Earlier this year Borough Council authorized the Borough Engineer to prepare plans and secure a DEP permit to remove a large gravel bar that was acting as a “cork” in the Chartiers Creek Back Channel at the confluence of McLaughlin Run, essentially behind the firehouse. Last week the Borough’s Public Works Crew removed this large hindrance from the waterway increasing flow for McLaughlin Run to drain out into Chartiers Creek. Pictured is a before and after photo. The DEP permit will now allow the Borough to routinely perform this maintenance work.
