Contractors working for PENNDOT, in partnership with the Borough, are currently upgrading the handicap-accessible sidewalk ramps on Bank Street. As part of this project, they are also constructing bump-outs at the intersections of Gregg Avenue and Winfield Street.

A bump-out is a traffic calming feature that extends the curb and sidewalk into the roadway, narrowing the road at the intersection. This design helps to make pedestrians more visible to drivers by providing a safer, protected area with a shorter crossing distance. Additionally, bump-outs help protect parked vehicles along Bank Street by reducing the risk of cars encroaching into parking spaces.

Construction is anticipated to take up to 6 weeks, please use caution driving in the work area. This initiative is part of the Bridgeville Active Transportation Plan, which aims to enhance walkability throughout the community and create safer, more accessible streets for pedestrians.
